$163 Coin Flip and Pokerstar's Online Poker Show Freeroll

Today, I decided to take a chance at $.50/$1 table. I bought in for $60. Lost a few hands, won a few hands. Kind of getting unlucky. Then I pick up AK in the small blind. 1 guy limps in and button raises to $5. I make it $50 to go cause the guy on the button's range is kind of wide like he could have a suited connector or a low pair. But he has 10s and I lose the coin flip. Kind of sucks cause I hit an ace on the flop and he hit 10 on the river.

$163 Pot
Anyway, I have $16 left in my Betmost account. Not sure what I'll do with it, maybe play a few sit and gos.

Online Poker Show Freeroll

I was watching Pokerstar's Sunday Million replay and they gave a password for a freeroll. First place is only a $215 ticket for Sunday Million which kind of sucks unless there are only a few hundred people who join. Pokerstars also invited me to a $10,000 freeroll on July 11th which is cool..

Betmost Sponsorship and Busto to Robusto

It's been awhile since I have posted. A little busy working I guess. Anyway, I felt like playing a little bit of poker. Betmost game me $55 for free too which was really nice of them. I joined Betmost with a sponsorship deal from Poker Inside. Poker Inside gave sent me a free T-Shirt too which was cool but it's yellow lol..

So anyway, I decided to play on Betmost just for fun at a cash table. I bought in for $25 and got dealt kings after a few hands. I was on the button and made a standard raise, I was happy someone called. Flop comes K86, 2 clubs and I make continuation bet. I get check raised and I just decide to call because I don't want to scare him away. 10 of clubs comes, pretty much worst card. He bets $5 and I call. River he pushes and I'm pretty sure he made a flush but I call because there was a lot of money in there and my set of kings could be good. Turns out he just had KQ and I take down the pot.

A few hands later I made a bad bluff and lost $10. Then next hand, a small stack reraises me all in and I'm on tilt now. So next hand I have 53 of clubs in small blind and decide to call a big raise. I flop a flush draw and check. Button continuation bets $6 and there's $14 in the pot so I call. Turn, I decide to check raise all in but the other guy checks behind. I hit a 5 on the river and I check. Button checks and I end up winning with 5s.

Busto to Robusto

Anyway, I watched a couple documentaries about some online poker pros including one with Andrew "goodtocu" Robl. Here's the first episode:

Interview With David Sklansky - Part (1 of 3)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8imdgodHnIendofvid
[starttext]
David Sklansky (born 1947,[1] in Teaneck, New Jersey) is a professional poker player and author.
Sklansky grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey, where he graduated from Teaneck High School in 1966. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, but left before graduation. He returned to Teaneck and passed multiple Society of Actuaries exams by the time he was 20, and worked for an actuarial firm.[2]
Sklansky is generally considered a top authority on gambling. He has written many books on poker, blackjack, and general gambling.
Sklansky has won three World Series of Poker bracelets, two in 1982 ($800 Mixed Doubles, and $1000 Draw Hi) and one in 1983 ($1000 Limit Omaha Hi). He also won the Poker By The Book invitational event on the 2004 World Poker Tour, outlasting Phil Hellmuth Jr, Mike Caro, T. J. Cloutier, and Mike Sexton, and then finally overcoming Doyle Brunson.[3]
Sklansky attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania for a year before leaving to become a professional gambler.[4] He briefly took on a job as an actuary before embarking into poker. While on the job he discovered a faster way to do some of the calculations and took that discovery to his boss. The boss told him he could go ahead and do it that way if he wanted but wouldnt pass on the information to the other workers. "In other words, I knew something no one else knew, but I got no recognition for it," Sklansky is quoted as saying in Al Alvarez's "The Biggest Game in Town." "In poker, if you're better than anyone else, you make immediate money. If there's something I know about the game that the other person doesn't, and if he's not willing to learn or can't understand, then I take his money."
In a posting on the Two Plus Two poker discussion forums, he admitted to twice cheating at poker. [5]
Sklansky resides in Henderson, Nevada.

Sklansky has authored or co-authored 13 books on gambling theory and poker. His books are published by Two Plus Two Publishing. His book cover art often features hand guns. His 1976 book Hold'em Poker was the first book widely available on the subject.[6]
Sklansky contributed a section to the first edition of Super/System on seven-card stud hi/lo split with no qualifier for low.

Late in 2006, Sklansky offered a wager to Christian fundamentalists. Contestants would first have to pass a lie detector test affirming their absolute certainty that Jesus was resurrected from the dead and that everyone who didn't believe this would go to hell. Anyone who passed the polygraph would be eligible to wager $50,000 on an attempt to outscore Sklansky on the math SAT, taken in half the usual time. The idea was to prove, in Sklansky's words, that "Fundamentalists are at least 10 times less likely than Asians, Jews, or atheists to be scientifically brilliant."
The challenge was criticized on several grounds. Some Two Plus Two forum posters predicted a perfect score for Sklansky, leading to minimal upside for any challenger. (In response, Sklansky declined to substitute a more difficult test.) Others felt that the polygraph condition was restrictive and not representative of most American Christians. No one accepted the challenge for several days afterward, and Sklansky withdrew it, later saying that it was a "publicity stunt."

New GoDaddy Commercial - Vanessa Rousso, Danica Patrick, Candice Michelle - "One More Thing"

Vanessa Rousso, Team PokerStars Pro, finds out what it takes to be a Go Daddy Girl

"One More Thing" - Too Hot For TV - Internet Only

Vanessa's blog:

What a week! I started in Los Angeles playing in the World Poker Tour $10,000 Buy-In Event at the Commerce Casino. From there, it was on to New York City for three intense, 12-hour+ days as host/analyst for the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT). Then Thursday morning, I hopped on the 7 a.m. flight from NYC to Las Vegas, landing at 10 a.m. PST just in time to rush to Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino to meet my new Go Daddy colleagues and to film a poker-themed Go Daddy commercial. My call time was 11 a.m.!

I somehow managed to make it in time, and was whisked into hair and makeup. Within an hour and a half, I was on the set with Bob, Danica and Candice, trying my best to get my lines right. Acting is tough! It seemed the others had done this before they had a handle on it much better than I did. The script was very funny and certainly GoDaddy-esque!

All in all, the shoot went well and most importantly I felt things clicked really well with everyone at Go Daddy. What a group of dynamic, interesting and creative people! I am very excited about working with Go Daddy, not to mention thankful for the confidence they have in me.

After we wrapped shooting for the commercial and took some pictures for the Web site, I was off to the Draw Party for the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championships at Caesars. The event features 64 of the world's top poker players (and will be televised April 12). Unfortunately for me, I drew the legendary godfather of poker, Doyle Brunson, as my first opponent. If I managed to defeat him, the others in my bracket looked very, very strong as well.

I woke up Friday feeling super tired and groggy not a good start! I spent the morning analyzing some YouTube footage of Doyle playing past heads-up matches. Research is especially helpful in preparing for heads-up matches, and I think it is a big mistake not to take advantage of information on the Web. My round was set to start at 6 p.m., and after some preliminary interviews and a group photograph, we were off on-time.

I took an early lead and slowly ground him down to a short stack when he decided to move all-in on a 10 Q K all-hearts flop. Unfortunately for him, I had 9 10 of hearts, so I had flopped the flush. I called and he flipped over J 10 for bottom pair and a gut shot straight draw. He didn't have a heart and would need a runner full house (less than 1 percent chance) to beat me.

So, for the third year in a row I won my first-round match. But this year I was determined to get past the round of 32 (where I had fallen the last two years). That was, until I found out who I was I playing in the next round... the Tiger Woods of poker and the worlds all-around best poker player, Phil Ivey.

Tune in to my blog in a few days to find out what happened next...
