PokerStars ‘Guinness World Record Attempt’

Find The Poker Star In YouLeading online poker site PokerStars continues preparations for its December 28th attempt to rewrite the entry in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest-ever online poker tournament. With a target of 35,000 players, the event should outdraw by 50% some of the largest online tourneys recorded to date – including a Sunday "Hundred Grand" tourney at Stars in July of 2007 that was capped at 20,000 players, thereby setting the published record. With advance registrations proceeding at a fast clip, the special tourney is also likely to be capped well in advance of its start. Even if this tournament should fill up there will be a $150 000 overlay in the prize pool.

If you haven't signed up for Pokerstars, there are 5 $500 freerolls everyday until Dec.27th. To enter, click here and make your first real-money deposit, using any of our convenient payment methods, and enter the code “FDF1” into the bonus code field at the cashier. You'll then be able to play in as many of the daily freerolls as you wish. In addition, you'll also get our 100% First Deposit Bonus of up to $50.

The Dec. 28th event, scheduled for 3:30 pm ET, carries a modest $10+1 entry. The usual buy-in for Pokerstar's $500k is $500+30. The huge number of entrants planned for makes it necessary to be run as a "turbo" event, with ten-minute levels and ten players per table. Over 5,200 players have registered at the time of writing so if you want to make sure you get a spot in this tourney you will probably need to register before the 28th of December because chances are that it will fill up before that.
